    MILITARY BRASS BUCKLE

The required official Boy Scouts BSA uniform belt is a webbed, olive green military style belt, normally made of webbing, distinguished by its belt buckle design and lack of holes in the cord, which is usually found in other belts where a pin is used as the fastening mechanism in the belt buckle. The belt measures 1.5 inches wide, the belt 38 inches long.
The buckle is a box type, friction slider mechanism made of brass. The design of the belt buckle is usually a hollow metal rectangular box through which the cloth cord passes through, when fastened, a pin with the length equal to the width of the cord is pushed up from a groove and stops the cloth by increasing the amount of friction needed to pull the cloth cord further through the box. This mechanism removes the need for holes in the cord, which is a common feature on many other designs, it also allows the wearer to adjust the belt to the exact size needed, as it is not limited by the holes. A belt of this type is often used in the uniforms of armed forces, Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as that of the Boy Scouts of America, since it is adjustable, cheap to produce and does not deteriorate easily.
UNIVERSAL ADJUSTABLE SIZE BELT / TOURNIQUET
Since this belt size is not limited to the position on holes in the belt, this belt and buckle system can be adjusted to any length, from the tip to almost the buckle. That makes it uniquely adaptable for use as an emergency First Aid tourniquet.
    ABOUT 38 INCHES LONG
The North & Judd Manufacturing Company dates back to James North's blacksmith shop in New Britain, Connecticut during the Revolutionary War. The company expanded and in 1832 shifted production focus from sleigh bells and wire products to saddles and harness hardware. In 1863 Lorin F. Judd bought an increased interest in the H.F. North & Company and the company was incorporated and took its present name. In 1878 they began stamping their products with the anchor symbol, a reflection of their marine hardware, and after they acquired Buermann Manufacturing Company in 1926 they began using the star symbol mark as well. North & Judd Manufacturing Company was the world's dominate bit and spur manufacturers until the end of World War II and continues to be a leader in today's hardware business.
Their products included belt buckles, shoe trimmings, clothing accessories, upholstery nails, thumb tacks, saddlery and harness hardware and many others. Web strap hardware was added to the line in the 1930s and, in addition to commercial applications, a considerable amount of this hardware was used by the military.

This collection belonged to a life-long Scouter who passed away in 2000. He earned his Eagle award about the age of 17, which would make it around 1959 (ish). He spent his life devoted to Scouting serving as Scoutmaster and at Boy Scout summer camps for over 15 years in positions from counselor to eventually camp director.
He was a ten year member and Vice President of the local Volunteer Fire Co., ten year member of the area Hazardous Materials Response Team and the town Tax Payers Association and was an Eagle Scout with Gold & Silver Palms, one of the highest ranks in Scouting.
A bronze palm represents five additional merit badges, a gold palm 10, and a silver palm 15. 1 gold palm and 1 silver palm = 46 total merit badges (21 required + 25 additional)
I cannot divulge his identity because I don't have the family's permission, nor sufficient background information on him.
