This is a high quality lithograph reproduction concert poster for 'The King of Western Swing' Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. He played this show at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa OK, the venue he made legendary as 'The Home of Bob Wills' in the 30's, broadcasting their popular radio show from there on KVOO Radio. Their 12:30-1:15 Monday-Friday broadcasts became a veritable institution in the region. An amazingly charismatic performer, he also appeared in a total of 19 films. During the postwar period, Bob Wills concerts were outselling those of Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. Bob's musical legacy endures to this day. His style influenced performers from Buck Owens and Merle Haggard to Asleep at the Wheel and Willie Nelson, and helped to spawn a style of music now known as Western Swing. Bob Wills was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 and is the Inaugural Inductee to the National Fiddler Hall of Fame at the Cain's in Tulsa.
